Programs and Admissions

The Academy
At Focus Academy, we offer a full-time program for middle and high school students, serving grades 5 through 12. Unlike traditional models that often leave learning gaps, our customized curriculum ensures each student builds true mastery before moving forward—no one gets passed along just because the group is ready. In addition to academics, we emphasize real-world preparation through the development of independent living skills and social-emotional learning. Students gain practical experience in areas such as organization, communication, self-advocacy, and daily life tasks, all while building meaningful relationships through guided, real-life interactions.
Focus Academy is a different kind of school
Rather than simply trying to get students through high school, we follow a philosopy of preparing the student for college and for life.
Our school is all about customization to the students' needs through individualized programs and development of character and self-discipline.
We have proven that students can learn better and faster when given appropriate tools and surrounded by supportive adults.
We want to develop the next generation of students who are equipped not only for higher education, but a generation that has the character, independence, self-reliance, and motivation to improve upon the status quo.
We are here to help raise adults who will positively contribute to society including developing leadership skills, compassion, and empathy.
We are seeking families that will work collaboratively with us to meet their children's unique learning needs through individual coping mechanisms and will push them to reach their highest potential.

Transition and Adult Services
After completing high school, many individuals still lack the confidence and capability to live independently. Our goal is for students to demonstrate advanced life skills prior to high school graduation and to continually expand parent and student expectations for a truly independent adult life. However, if you or your loved one has already passed this stage, don’t worry – we are still here to help! We work with our graduates as well as graduates of other high schools and/or colleges. Most of our adult clients are in their 20s or 30s, but we have had clients up to the age of 65. Focus Academy can help these quirky individuals struggling to transition to college, careers, or independent living situations through individual and group training.
Admissions Explained
Admissions to Focus Academy are usually driven by unique situations. We have a rolling enrollment policy meaning students can be admitted at any time throughout the year. Our evaluation process is sensitive to the needs of the individual and family members. To be considered for admissions, parents must first attend an initial tour and family meeting. The prospective student may attend this meeting, or a later meeting can be arranged. This is followed by a full day assessment and application. Results are usually provided on the day of the initial assessment.
